Why is this drum made from pine wood?

Pine is a strong, flexible and durable wood, which is why it's so suitable for making drums. The wood used is Finnish.

What skin is used to make the drum?

Our drums are made from stretched reindeer hides. All our reindeer skins come from farms in the heart of Finnish Lapland. On these farms, the reindeer live in semi-liberty, feeding on the natural resources provided by their environment. Breeders intervene particularly in winter, a difficult period when snow can make lichen, their main source of food, inaccessible.

When should I use this drum?

The drums are suitable for both outdoor and indoor use.

Does the sound of the drum change?

Reindeer skin reacts significantly to changes in temperature and humidity, which has a direct impact on the sound of the drum. In hot, dry periods, the drumhead tightens, producing a higher-pitched sound. Conversely, during cold, damp periods, the skin relaxes, producing a lower-pitched sound.
